This time the meeting will cover street lightning. It may seem that the issue is as clear as day - the streets are to be illuminated. Is there any philosophy to it? Well, there is. Dr inż. Wiesława Pabjańczyk (The Technical University of Łódź) will be our expert on the topic. She will present the analysis on how underestimated designing city street lightning is.
Cities are designed to be resided primarily during the day. Proper lightning does not only highlight the aesthetic value of the space, it also has influence on our sense of security and how we move around it. Most road incidents at dusk/dawn are reported in November and December - those two months make up for 30% accidents at this time of day. Research shows that proper lightning helps decrease the number of accidents at night on city roads.
The meeting will be held on February 17, 2015 (Tuesday), in LOKAL (at the end of Pasaż Schillera - closer to Plac Komuny Paryskiej) at 18.00.
