Our last meeting covered one of the most controversial topics - parking cars. A heated debate could not have been avoided.
Midwinter, the time when the amount of sunlight is limited, seems like a perfect time to discuss proper street light design.
This time the meeting will cover street lightning. It may seem that the issue is as clear as day - the streets are to be illuminated. Is there any philosophy to it? Well, there is. Dr inż. Wiesława Pabjańczyk (The Technical University of Łódź) will be our expert on the topic. She will present the analysis on how underestimated designing city street lightning is.
December is the beginning of winter, a season during which difficult road conditions force drivers to take bigger care of the road surface.
Can surface composition affect driver behaviour? Is being even the only characteristic that makes a good surface? What are the best practices in countries which do research on surfaces and draw conclusions from its observations? And finally, is salt the only countermeasure to snow?
November was the month of local elections thus the topic of our meeting was related to the competences of both the city councilors and the president. A couple of candidates attended the meeting, which took place at the “Niebostan” club-café (Piotrkowska Street no. 17).
Do local elections always have to run under the banner “Nobody will give you as much as we promise”? We would like to invite you to our meeting during which we will explain what kind of promises made by candidates are possible to fulfill and in what form.
This month the topic of our meeting was related to pedestrian safety, especially in the proximity of zebra crossings. Our special guest was Jacek Grunt-Meyer from the University of Warsaw.
