This time the meeting will cover street lightning. It may seem that the issue is as clear as day - the streets are to be illuminated. Is there any philosophy to it? Well, there is. Dr inż. Wiesława Pabjańczyk (The Technical University of Łódź) will be our expert on the topic. She will present the analysis on how underestimated designing city street lightning is.
Can surface composition affect driver behaviour? Is being even the only characteristic that makes a good surface? What are the best practices in countries which do research on surfaces and draw conclusions from its observations? And finally, is salt the only countermeasure to snow?
November was the month of local elections thus the topic of our meeting was related to the competences of both the city councilors and the president. A couple of candidates attended the meeting, which took place at the “Niebostan” club-café (Piotrkowska Street no. 17).
Do local elections always have to run under the banner “Nobody will give you as much as we promise”? We would like to invite you to our meeting during which we will explain what kind of promises made by candidates are possible to fulfill and in what form.
We would like to invite the residents of Łódź to propose areas, which we could together redesign. Within the confines of our project “Safe city – a different way” and with the help of residents we would like to prepare ideas on how to change/modify 3 chosen streets or areas.
Another meeting with citizens is behind us. This time the main topic was shared space – a term which is so unknown among traffic engineers in Poland, that it doesn’t even have its own name in polish. The meeting took place on Plac Wolności in Lódź.
